for physicians.

Independent movement is a big deal to kiddos and parents. They worry about it all the time. Asking themselves is there something I could do for my kiddo to help them achieve this next, huge milestone? The answer is always yes. Wouldn’t it be great if you were able to give them more peace of mind with a few minutes of patient education on physical therapy or other resources instead of brushing off their concerns with “let’s give it more time?”

Empowered parents are more proactive and feel more comfortable bringing up concerns, so let’s empower them to act safely and effectively, together. Whether you’re looking for a specific resource or you’d love to be interviewed on my youtube channel www.youtube.com/c/drlaurenbaker, I’d love to be a force for good to help parents take proactive action with you.

Pediatric+Exercise+Handbook

looking for a parent resource?

Good resources that explain easy and safe to do at-home exercises for kiddos including hand placement, safety suggestions, and progressions can be tough to find. This resource is specifically for clinicians to share with parents of kiddos who are ambulatory.

Our pediatric exercise handbook was written by two physical therapists and created with parents, newer clinicians, student physical therapists, and those who work with toddlers and above in mind. It is intended to provide basic content for learning about gross motor development, milestones, and interventions in an uncomplicated manner that is simple to digest and easy to adapt.

w sitting.

Has a parent brought up their concerns on w-sitting to you in the past, but you’ve not really had any great advice to give them, other than “they should grow out of it?” Did you know that w-sitting can actually impact the biomechanics of the hip, decrease incidence of crossing midline, and decrease the overall development of core/hip strength needed to walk efficiently?

for physical therapists.

Looking for a resource for writing Pediatric Physical Therapy Documentation because it’s tough and no one taught you how to make playing sound skilled to insurance companies and physicians?

What you do IS absolutely skilled and necessary and takes considerable effort to accomplish. Kiddos move so fast that often times during a therapy session you are influencing 4-7 different things all at once.

No wonder why parents are overwhelmed with trying to help their kiddos, it’s even hard for us to learn how to write about it (at first). That’s why I wrote a book on it, because being a peds therapist is tough enough.

These kiddos deserve us at our best and what we have to say about the time we spend with them, is important. So let’s write our documentation with quiet confidence so we can continue to pour into making these babes move more confidently. (Coming August 2021).

for school based physical therapists and spts.

Gosh, transitioning into school based physical therapy is hard work. Don’t you wish you had an online mentor that could explain a few concepts to you like the difference between related services and SDI, what medical model goals look like compared to school based physical therapy goals, and how would one go about collaborating with a teacher on an adaptive goal for an IEP.

Good news: there’s a playlist on youtube just for you. I hope it helps make this easier.

These are tiny humans. They remind us to believe in magic and play pretend. In peds we have miracles and magic, in our notes and in our hearts.
